PUYALLUP, Wash. — To knock out top-seeded Puyallup in the WIAA semifinals — to avenge the low-point blowout loss from earlier this season — defending Class 4A champion Sumner knew it had to do one thing well Saturday.

Feed “The Beast.”

And the Spartans did just that.

Lance McGee rushed for a game-high 313 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-clinching 9-yard score with two minutes remaining, and the No. 5 seed Spartans stunned the Vikings, 42-35, at Sparks Stadium.
