TACOMA, Wash. — Lake Washington High School’s Yevhen Zhmailo was bundled up in a hoodie, almost as if he was ready for a snowball fight.

It was considerably cooler Friday with stronger wind gusts and periodical rainfall as the second day of “Star Track,” the Class 4A, 3A and 2A track and field championships unfolded at Mount Tahoma Stadium.

Many had come out to see Zhmailo, the Oklahoma signee who holds the all-time best mark in WIAA history in the triple jump at 51 feet, set earlier this season at the Oregon Relays.
