5 games you should not have missed in Washington high school football, Week 5
Bothell utilizes a little trickery in completing its 36-35 comeback victory over reigning KingCo champion and host Bellevue

As Bothell was driving for a possible game-tying touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, once the sideline coaching staff agreed to go for a two-point conversion, longtime Cougars coach Tom Bainter radioed his son, Erik, in the upstairs booth.
“I told him to start thinking about two-point (conversion) plays,” Bainter said of the conversation.
Erik came back with three suggestions: A heavy-set run play called “Green Bay Blast,” a misdirection quarterback bootleg play and the famous “Philly Special” that the Philadelphia Eagles used to beat New England in the Super Bowl.
“I said, ‘We are doing Philly Special,’” said Bainter, adding the team practiced the play during two separate practices heading into the game before putting it in the game plan.
And after Mylez Welch scored on a 7-yard touchdown run with 71 seconds remaining, the Cougars went for the win — and got it on wide receiver Carlin Gochnour’s pass to quarterback Matt Small on the two-point conversion, lifting Bothell to a wild 36-35 KingCo victory over the 3A No. 4 Wolverines in Bellevue.
