Back in the late-2000s, when Twitter was still start-up social-media dialogue, a few of Scott Campbell’s friends suggested he give it a try.

Campbell was building a name in Washington high-school basketball coaching, and figured joining the new platform was a way to connect with like-minded basketball junkies.

One of the first people he began to follow was Scott Cross, then the men’s basketball coach at UT Arlington.

And one pointed Cross sign-off slogan - about basketball and life - stuck with him.

“Take the Stairs!”
