East Valley of Yakima football coach Eric Berg thought he had a slam dunk.

Berg walked into all-2A CWAC voting last November with a long list of nominees — none of which he was more excited about to put up on the ballot than junior Zeliah Wade at defensive end.

Wade led all league pass rushers in 2024 with 10 sacks, which was among the classification leaders as well.

But to Berg’s disappointment, Wade’s accomplishments flew under the radar with other coaches. He was voted to the all-league second team.

“I left disappointed,” Berg said.

Well, he won’t be leaving disheartened this fall.
