Quietly, when pundits of Washington high school softball start talking about how this weekend’s WIAA Class 4A championships will shake out, they ultimately point to an ascending X-factor.

Sure, the bracket is loaded with NCAA Division I-bound upperclassmen, but the mere mention of her name triggers unabated gushing and a shake of the head.

A storm is coming - and her name is Ali Evans.
