SUMNER, Wash. — Alec Simmons is in an amusing position.

He’s an alumnus and now 15-year Sumner High School football assistant coming of back-to-back WIAA Class 4A championships.

And now, he’s the second-year coach of the Spartans’ girls flag football squad — accomplishing something Friday night that the boys did not last fall:

Win the 4A SPSL championship.
