Kamiakin's long, winding road leads to golden destination — the WIAA football playoffs
Braves win two games this week, including 34-20 victory Saturday at Bethel, to punch ticket to 4A state playoffs
SPANAWAY, Wash. — Just like last season, the Kamiakin Braves are on one of most stressful odysseys in the Washington high school football postseason.
Again, they are embracing the challenge.
Four days after defeating Lewis and Clark in a district crossover pigtail game just to get into the Class 4A state play-in round, the Braves traveled 250 miles to take on Bethel to advance to the WIAA playoffs.
Fueled by ninth grader Jagger McEwen’s three touchdown passes, and a big-boy scoring drive to start the second half, 17th-seeded Kamiakin tripped up the No. 16 seed Bison, 34-20, at Art Crate Field.
