TACOMA, Wash. — Peyton Fualaau might be the best illustration of how most newcomers feel in the inaugural season of WIAA girls flag football.

A ninth grader at Lincoln of Tacoma, Fualaau didn’t know the exact rules of the newest sanctioned in sport in Washington — but she understood them in a general sense she had watched her brother play fall tackle football with the Abes.
