The 13th full week of the high school basketball season in Washington featured big individual playmaking and defensive performances around the state.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Basketball Athlete of the Week voting for winter-holiday games played the week of Feb. 23-28:
Jalen Davis, Bremerton boys basketball: Was simply unstoppable in 2A regionals against Renton, tallying a game-high 34 points - 28 coming in the first half - with nine rebounds and six assists in the Knights’ victory.
Oliviyah Edwards, Lincoln of Tacoma girls basketball: In her final high-school game, Tennessee signee had a game-high 38 points and 19 rebounds as the Abes lost to Lakeside of Seattle in a Class 3A regionals game in Bellevue.
Lattimore Ford, Mount Si boys basketball: Coming off nearly a year-long layoff (knee) a few weeks ago, the guard scored a season-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting as the Wildcats recovered to beat West Valley of Yakima at Class 4A regionals.
Isa Garcia, Davis girls basketball: With reigning state MVP Cheyenne Hull in foul trouble, the junior guard ripped Sumner for 32 points on 15-of-17 shooting, including six 3-pointers, in the Pirates’ Class 4A regional-round win.
Dawson Hintz, Lynden Christian boys basketball: Crushed it with a game-high 31 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Lyncs rode hot shooting in moving past Chelan in Class 1A regionals.
Allie and Adrik Jenkin, Colfax girls and boys basketball: Playing with heavy hearts after their father, Reece, died hours earlier (cancer), Allie (career-high 41 points) and Adrik (34 points) led the Bulldogs in Class 1A regionals victories in Spokane.
Hayden Kaut, Napavine girls basketball: Montana signee erupted for a game-high points, 21 coming in the second half, while grabbing 20 rebounds in the Tigers’ Class 2B regional victory over Mount Vernon Christian.
Finley Parcher, Lynden girls basketball: It’s postseason time, and one of the best players in the state tallied a game-high 31 points - 26 coming in the final three quarter - as the Lions rocked Selah in a Class 2A regionals game.
Deidra Phillips, Prosser girls basketball: In a back-and-forth Class 2A regionals game with W.F. West, poured in a team-high 30 points, including 19 in the second half as the Mustangs pulled away for a victory.
Bella Standish, Ellensburg girls basketball: Junior guard carried the Bulldogs to an upset win over No. 2 seed Deer Park at Class 2A regionals, scoring 35 points. It was the second-highest scoring total of her career.
