The fourth week of the high school football season in Washington featured big individual performances on offense, defense and special teams.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Football Athlete of the Week voting after Week 4:
Bryson Allen, Franklin Pierce: Rushed for a career-high 367 yards on 24 carries, including four touchdowns. Had three of those scores in the fourth quarter (82, 21 and 86 yards) in a 43-42 loss to Orting.
Jay Davis, Mount Vernon: Bulldogs wide receiver had four catches for 164 yards and four touchdowns — including a one-handed 18-yard scoring catch — in a 42-33 win over Ferndale.
Rock Franklin, Mount Spokane: Caught the winning 13-yard touchdown pass with 19 seconds to play in a 16-14 win over GSL rival Mead. Had eight carries for 48 yards, five catches for 42 yards and the touchdown and completed a 39-yard pass.
Brady Jay, Moses Lake: State’s passing leader notched another big game — 32-of-44 passing for 355 yards and six touchdowns, while also rushing for a season-high 82 yards and a score on 10 carries in a 56-0 win over Wenatchee.
Marvin and Mose Kalepo, Bellevue: Brothers were part of Wolverines’ defensive turnover-fest (five turnovers) with one interception apiece. Mose’s pick was returned 51 yards for a touchdown in a 33-9 win over Mount Si.
Josiah Laurence, Cascade Christian: Caught eight passes for a career-high 175 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-tying 31-yarder with 15 seconds to go in regulation in the Cougars’ 26-23 overtime win over 4A Battle Ground.
A.J. Tuivaiave, Graham-Kapowsin: Sophomore reset his own program single-game passing touchdowns mark (eight) while passing for a season-high 409 yards in a 61-34 win over Bonney Lake.
Hunter VanHollebeke, Connell: Threw for 293 yards and five touchdowns, and added a couple of short rushing touchdowns in the Eagles’ 70-28 1A SCAC win over College Place.
Shia Webster, Anacortes: Rushed for a game-high 174 yards and two touchdowns. His 2-yard touchdown run gave Anacortes a 26-10 lead with 1:58 remaining in the third quarter in an eventual 26-23 win over Lynden in a pivotal 2A NWC contest.
J’Shaun Wilson, O’Dea: Sophomore registered third consecutive 100-yard rushing game with a game-high 151 yards, and his 50-yard score early in the fourth quarter was the game-winner in a 24-20 victory over Eastside Catholic.
