The senior collected 304 all-purpose yards, including rushing for a school-record 284 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries in a 27-26 win over Rainier, while adding four tackles and a tackle for loss on defense.

Original post, Sept. 15: The second week of the high school football season in Washington featured big individual performances on offense, defense and special teams.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Football Athlete of the Week voting after Week 2:
Chris Banker, Raymond-South Bend: Running back collected 304 all-purpose yards, including rushing for 284 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries in a 27-26 win over Rainier. Added four tackles and a tackle for loss on defense.
Rashard Boone, Rogers of Puyallup: Signal caller accounted for 437 yards of offense, including completing 22-of-28 passes for 352 yards and four touchdowns, and adding 85 yards and another score on eight carries in a 55-21 win over Kentridge.
Dani Bowler, Lynden: Opened the matchup of two top-five 2A teams with an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, then gave Lions a second score on a 70-yard reception in 21-20 victory over host Franklin Pierce.
Max Bridges, Glacier Peak: Defensive end had a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown, recorded a sack and also forced a fumble as Grizzlies defense did not allow a touchdown in team’s 20-3 win over Snohomish.
Quentin Hodge, Mount Tahoma: In T-Birds’ road win at reigning 4A runner-up Camas, speedster had an 84-yard punt return for a touchdown, another 34-yard return that set up a score and a 47-yard kickoff return in a 49-22 victory.
Brady Jay, Moses Lake: Mavericks quarterback was 35-of-46 passing for 487 yards, and tossed seven touchdowns for the second consecutive week in a 55-14 win over North Creek. Added 45 rushing yards on five carries.
Taylor Johnson, Mount Si: Had two interceptions and a forced fumble on defense, and caught four passes for 128 yards and a touchdown — just days after a death in the family — in the Wildcats’ 26-7 victory over Wenatchee.
Cordae Norling, Cascade Christian: Ninth grader was dynamic in second varsity start at quarterback, passing for career-high 377 yards and four touchdowns as Cougars walloped King’s, 42-6.
Greyson Stevens, East Valley of Yakima: Explosive athletes make plays — and Montana State commit did with a 76-yard touchdown catch and a 62-yard interception return for a score (second in two weeks) in a 55-6 win over Grandview.
Darius Sum, Stadium: One of state’s top rushers in 2024 was at it again against Mercer Island, racking up 213 total yards, including 170 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and another touchdown catch in a 30-10 win.
