The third week of the high school football season in Washington featured big individual performances on offense, defense and special teams.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Football Athlete of the Week voting after Week 3:
Brock Benson, Colville: Drove Crimson Hawks 85 yards in final 3 1/2 minutes, tossing the game-winning touchdown pass with 20 seconds to go in 25-22 win over Omak. Also had fumble recovery to set up final drive — and an interception return for a score.
Spencer Bogh, Liberty of Issaquah: Senior linebacker recorded a career-best three interceptions, including a 73-yarder for a touchdown in the first quarter as the Patriots defeated Mercer Island, 49-0.
Lane Collier, Garfield-Palouse: Led the Vikings to a 50-8 win over reigning 1B (eight-man) champion Wilbur-Creston-Keller. Senior quarterback rushed for 337 yards and five touchdowns, and added another 100 yards and two scores passing.
Jayvian Ferrell, Lake Stevens: Three touches, three long touchdown runs in the Viks’ 76-7 win over Cascade of Everett. Tailback went 68, 54 and 69 yards for scores on his only rushing attempts.
Zeke Hawkins, Anacortes: Seahawks senior made big plays in all three phases of 68-0 win over Bellingham, including a 44-yard TD catch, an interception on defense and a 76-yard punt return TD.
Wyatt Hoffman, W.F. West: Scored touchdowns by passing (4-yarder), rushing (31-yarder) and interception return (95-yarder), and finished with 371 yards of total offense in a 28-27 win over Timberline.
Lance McGee, Sumner: Senior running back piled up a game-high 277 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries in Spartans’ 31-24 loss to defending Oregon 6A champion West Linn.
Ean Owens, Lakes: Junior collected 250 all-purpose yards — including 206 on kick returns, and a 91-yard kickoff return TD in the fourth quarter — in a 21-17 win over Curtis.
Ray Palmer, White River: Had two punt returns for touchdowns, including an 86-yarder, and totaled 171 yards in special-teams returns as the Hornets improved to 3-0 with a 48-3 win over Auburn Mountainview.
Ethan Thayer, Onalaska: Loggers rushing attack was in high gear, and this fullback amassed a career-high 302 yards on 29 carries, scoring three touchdowns (including an 80-yard dash) in a 46-14 nonleague win over Cedar Park Christian.
