WIAA 1B state championship game: One big interception return changes DeSales' title-seeking fortunes
Caleb Bingham's 100-yard interception return for a touchdown ignites Irish to 26-14 win over Liberty Christian to claim first WIAA 8-man championship
SEATTLE — When an errant pass landed in the arms of Caleb Bingham, the DeSales linebacker had just one thought.
“Run the ball to the goal line,” he said. “That is all I was thinking.”
Bingham’s Gridiron Classic-record 100-yard interception return early in the second quarter flipped the script for the top-seeded Irish, who scored 26 unanswered points to stun No. 2 Liberty Christian, 26-14, and claim the Class 1B championship Friday afternoon at Husky Stadium.
