SEATTLE — Even benefiting from a rash of third-quarter turnovers, Tri-Cites Prep coach Kyle Cairns still was in tune to how dangerous the Toledo offense still was.

And when the Riverhawks held to give quarterback Eli Weeks and company the ball back with a chance to win the game with 2:48 remaining, a prevailing thought went through Cairns’ mind on the sideline as he stared off at his defense.

“Just carry us one last time,” Cairns said.

Indeed, it did.

Weeks’ first pass of the drive was picked off by Karter Gadish, who sprinted down the right sideline for the decisive touchdown, and the third-seeded Jaguars upended No. 1 Toledo, 47-34, to win the Class 2B championship Saturday at Husky Stadium.
