RICHLAND, Wash. — Longtime Montesano softball coach Pat Pace has learned over his decades to keep the messaging simple and positive.

And he had one tip for junior shortstop Jaelyn Butterfield right before she stepped into the batter’s box in the second inning.

“He said, ‘Just find your pitch, and hit it right in the middle!’” Butterfield said.
