LACEY, Wash. — Around the state, Mount Spokane has been the queen of the slow-moving softball, winning the past three WIAA Class 3A championships.

It is the high-velocity game the Wildcats have been in search of a state-tournament breakthrough — especially after a few freaky-Friday showings.

Could this be their year?
