WIAA girls flag football: Inaugural season starting to unleash series of 'firsts'
Fifth-ranked Stadium blanks No. 4 Kentridge, 14-0, to all but become official 4A NPSL champion in first season as sanctioned sport
TACOMA, Wash. — Historic Stadium High School, one of the oldest schools in the state at nearly 120 years old, relishes being a trend-setter in the WIAA’s newest sanctioned sport.
Girls flag football.
And in the inaugural season this winter, the Tigers — ranked No. 5 in VarsityWA’s latest all-classification rankings — all but finished off their first primary goal of clinching the 4A NPSL championship Thursday by defeating fourth-ranked Kentridge, 14-0, in a matchup of undefeated teams at Stadium Bowl.
