The ninth week of the high school football season in Washington featured big individual performances on offense, defense and special teams.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Football Athlete of the Week voting after Week 9:
Deker Bartel, Mark Morris: The Lower Columbia CC baseball commit had four carries for 94 yards and a touchdown, three receptions for 96 yards and a score on offense, and two interceptions on defense in the Monarchs’ 36-0 win over R.A. Long.
Jaxon Berg, East Valley of Yakima: In his final regular-season home game, the senior quarterback passed for a career-high eight touchdowns (17-of-24, 324 yards) in the Red Devils’ 61-0 victory over Ellensburg.
Jabez Boyd, Life Christian: Senior quarterback carried the Eagles to another 1A Nisqually championship by passing for 332 yards and three touchdowns, and rushing for 236 yards and three scores in a 44-38 win over Cascade Christian.
Anthony Godino, Chiawana: Senior running back exploded for a season-high 213 rushing yards on 19 carries, scoring three touchdowns as the Riverhawks wrapped up an undefeated MCC championship run with a 51-0 win over Walla Walla.
Elliot Lenssen, Ferndale: With a 3A Wesco playoff on the line, Lenssen sparked a second-half comeback with touchdown runs of 84 and 52 yards — and finished with 266 rushing yards on 21 carries in a 35-27 win over Edmonds-Woodway.
Jericho Martin, Spanaway Lake: In a game that featured two 300-yard passers, Martin sizzled with 358 yards and a career-best six touchdowns in the Sentinels’ 48-41 win over Rogers of Puyallup.
Cole Sievers, Archbishop Murphy: In the No. 1 Wildcats’ regular-season home finale, the sophomore contributed a 56-yard punt return and a 42-yard interception return for touchdowns during a 42-point first quarter in their 56-7 win over Sehome.
Ethan Thayer, Onalaska: Junior fullback got loose for 311 yards on 23 carries, scoring four touchdowns in the Loggers’ 70-12 win over Toutle Lake. Thayer scored in every quarter, including a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Aiden and Maddox Tyutyunnik, River View: The passing game was all about the brotherly connection. Aiden, a junior, threw for 216 yards and five touchdowns — with four scores going to Maddox (148 yards), a senior, in a 36-0 win over White Swan.
Chace Webster, Olympic: The senior became the school’s all-time leading single-season rusher after totaling 229 yards and five touchdowns in a 46-6 win over Port Angeles. His 1,928 yards broke Larry Dixon’s record (1,840) set in 2008.
