The 10th week of the high school football season in Washington featured big individual performances on offense, defense and special teams.
Here are 10 standouts up for VarsityWA’s Football Athlete of the Week voting after Week 10 state play-in games:
Jaeger Brashears, Wilbur-Creston-Keller: Sophomore fullback totaled 31 carries for 238 yards and five touchdowns, added four catches for 68 yards and a score and recorded 12 tackles on defense in a 64-26 win over Waitsburg in 1B action.
Johnny Ferguson, Moses Lake Christian: Rushed for 184 yards and five touchdowns, added 40 passing yards and returned a fumble 75 yards for a score on defense in a 60-12 win over Waterville-Mansfield in a 1B game.
Jayvian Ferrell, Lake Stevens: Vikings rolled up 512 yards on the ground — and this junior led the charge with 243 yards on 19 carries, scoring four touchdowns in a 56-28 victory over Woodinville in state play-in game.
Sam Kincaid, Gonzaga Prep: Dual-threat quarterback completed 8-of-10 passes for 185 yards and six touchdowns, and added 86 rushing yards and another touchdown in team’s 68-20 state play-in victory over Sunnyside.
Channing Kleine, Friday Harbor: Junior wide receiver had school-record 18 receptions for 273 yards and a touchdown, but the Wolverines fell to Rainier, 52-38, in a bi-district crossover game to reach 2B playoffs.
Elliot Lenssen, Ferndale: Collected 210 rushing yards on 21 carries, and had a second-quarter 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Ferndale’s 35-34 state play-in win over Cheney.
Noah Maxwell, Steilacoom: Do-everything athlete caught four passes for 104 yards and a touchdown, rushed 15 times for 91 yards and another touchdowns and recorded a pair of interceptions on defense in a 38-14 state play-in win over Ephrata.
Ethan Rodriguez and Xander Peterman, Rochester: In whopping school-record 616 rushing-yard effort, Rodriguez (231 yards, three TDs) and Peterman (191 yards, three TDs) were unstoppable in 74-41 state play-in win over Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls.
Caleb Von Pressentin, Napavine: Senior tailback posted second 300-yard rushing effort this season with 307 yards on 23 carries, scoring four touchdowns in a 47-24 district crossover victory over Toutle Lake.
Chace Webster, Olympic: State’s leading rusher in a machine. The senior rushed for 331 yards on 29 carries, scoring four touchdowns in a 27-14 state play-in victory over Chief Sealth. It was his third 300-yard rushing game of the season.
